Dino Who?

Little Miss G - she's the reason this blog exists.
Dinosaur Mommy.

Yeah, your initial reaction was probably, "what does dinosaur mommy mean?"  Mine was too, when the thought crossed my mind.  The whole idea actually spawned from a conversation I had with my mom just a few days ago.  I was venting to her my unyielding desire to be a stay at home mom, and she said, "You're a dinosaur mom just like I was."  At first, I thought, "What is she talking about?"  She went on to explain how when so many other women in the early 1980s were focused on building their careers and moving up the corporate ladder, she was home - raising me, my sister, and our little brother.  By the time the conversation was over, and I hung up the phone, the dinosaur conversation was out of my sight and out of my mind.  And then, a couple of weeks later in the midst of my brainstorming for a blog identity, I went back to that conversation.  Now you have to understand that my heart's desire, even since I was a little girl, has always been to be a wife and a mother...a domestic engineer, if you will.  Yes, I embraced my inner feminist and traveled the road of higher education.  I earned my degree, and I'm proud of it.  It's opened doors for me, and allowed me to spend the last 3 1/2 years working for a major university.  It's been a blessing, and great experience.  But, when it comes down to it, there's not a degree, not a pay grade, not a career that will ever come close to the fulfillment that comes from spending time with my daughter.  Although I'm currently employed outside the home, I am praying and waiting for the right opportunity to allow me to follow my heart as a dinosaur mommy.

With all that said, my name is Adrianne, but you can call me A.  You've probably gathered that I wear a lot of hats - figuratively, of course.   I'm a wife and a mom.  Sometimes I'm a chauffeur.  I'm a chef, and a closet Betty Crocker wannabe.  A Believer, but a doubter at the same time. A lover and a friend.  A sister.  A daughter.  A photographer and a pianist.  An artist, and a dreamer.  But all together, I'm just me.

My wonderful husband.  I refer to him as M in my posts.

And here I am.
